Regional Relays 2011 Results

Congratulations to all 45 athletes who competed at the regional relay carnival on Sunday. We only had one athlete not show and everyone put in a huge effort and showed great sportsmanship. All in all, it was a glorious day and you all are CHAMPIONS!!!!!!

Special thanks to the athletes who competed up an age group to help form teams -  in particular to Kasey Landers and Jesica Draper who competed up TWO ages moving from the U8s to run with U10 year olds to help out.

Thanks also to the parents who officiated on the day as well as the parents who helped out running the high jump. We were never short out there and boy was it hot!!!!!!

Although official results are yet to be released, Jimboomba looks to have around ten relay teams through to the Queensland Little Athletics State relay championships being contested at Nathan on December 10.

Queensland State Relay Championships 2010

Jimboomba Little Athletics Centre members competed strongly at the 2010 Queensland State Relay Championships held at the State Athletics Facility at Mount Gravatt.
Despite having to compete in heavy rain during a mammoth 12 hour carnival, Jimboomba athletes achieved great results.
Zac McDonald and Nathan Wilkins led the charge placing second in the U13 boys discus relay.

The centre’s distance medley relay teams also did well with the U13 girls team of Madison Shay (200m), Bianca Watkins (200m), Kailee Howard (400m) and Hannah Cox (800m) winning a silver medal and the U17 girls team of Tyleah Quinn-Woldhuis (200m), Mahalia Olive (200m), Jade Annakin (400m) and Jaimee Newton-Smith (800m) also picking up silver.

The centre’s third medley team of  Kendal Newton-Smith (200m), Bayley Quinn-Woldhuis (200m), Kyle Somerville (400m) and Blake Rogers (800m) placed second in their heat and seventh overall.

In the younger age groups Jimboomba was represented by Heath Cox-Probert and Jackson Nix in the U9 boys shot put relay, Trent Fisher and Mathew Stockham in the U10s high jump relay and Shantay Morris and Camryn Newton-Smith in the U11 long jump relay. All athletes gained valuable experience.

Shantay and Camryn also combined with Chiara Olive and Madison Kelly to compete strongly in the U11 4X100m relay.

The U14 girls team of Jade Annakin and Mahalia Olive had both their long jump and high jump relays disrupted by rain as did Tyleah Quinn-Woldhuis and Jaimee Newton-Smith in the U17 long jump.

Well done to all athletes who competed!
